Bookified

So this first bit will get totally overlooked by the HP mania sweeping my f-list right about now, but as soon as you've finished Half Blood Prince, go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I've never grinned so much throughout an entire movie, not to mention it's definitely on par with the Gene Wilder version. And for the new-school Who fans out there, see if you can spot the member of the Slitheen family, haha. Noooo, little!Willy, don't take candy from the alien!

I have survived yet another poorly organized Harry Potter release party. Whooo! \o/ With my book now in hand, I'm going to be pretty much avoiding my f-list until it has been read cover to cover. So I will see you all on the flip side. Happy reading, everyone!

It was pretty badly organized, but I wonder if the EP Mall gave them problems about using mall space for the event. Then again, it's usually a question of stupidity, not malice, in these situations...

Hard to say. I think they just underestimated the number of people who came out this time. It wasn't quite as bad the last time around. I remember actually being able to hold conversations and find places to sit down.

I'm mildly cranky about it since I can't stand up for extended periods without my legs starting to hurt, and I don't like sitting on the floor much.

Hi again!

Yes, ditto on recommending everyone to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, of course. :)

It was pretty laid back at Borders by Ridgedale. I was number 99 and got my book and was home a little bit after one. Yes, I did crack it open and read until about 2:30 and then crashed out. Finished it tonight. (sad now)

I also came home with the soundtrack for CatCF. And a book on making beaded jewelry and a nice new blank journal that was on sale for half off...so much for hanging out at a bookstore for hours, bad bad!!!

Good reading!

And for the Old-School Who fans there's Deep Roy, aka the Oompa Loompas. He played the character Mr. Sin in the classic Tom Baker Dr. Who story, "The Talons of Weng Chiang".

Saw Charlie this afternoon. It was very good. I like both the old and new movies. I rather enjoyed some of Danny Elfman's takes on the Oompa Loompa songs. The parody of the "It's a Small World" animatronics when they arrive at the factory was quite choice too.

Did you see the trailer for the next Burton/Depp project, Corpse Bride? Looks to be as good as The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Wallace and Grommit preview looked good too.

He's been in a lot of stuff I think. His face is very familiar.

I did catch the Corpse Bride trailer, it looks great.

You're right. I just did a search on imdb. Deep Roy's been in several movies in the past few years including: Big Fish, The Haunted Mansion, Planet of the Apes, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He apparently will be doing a voice in Corpse Bride as well.
